Eat, eat, eat….

Earlier this week I tweeted this article from CNN, which talks about the Maasai tribe fight with elephants for land that the people of the tribe want to use as farm land but the elephants continue to feed on that same crop. It reminded me of our safari as I recalled our ranger mentioning that elephants are always eating as long as they are awake (I guess showering doesn’t count as shown below :)). He went on to say that their population was very hard to keep in check because they were not hunted by any other species, they just eat and multiply.

I do understand the locals concerns but as a tourist I found it incredible to see them just roam freely in their herds. They were generally peaceful and didn’t mind us being around them, we ran into multiple herds during our stay but our last encounter was by far the most interesting. We apparently caught them in a random act of getting a belly rub (shown below). And right after that we saw another elephant taking a bath which also got playful with us, being sprayed with some of the mud he was bathing with was not pleasant though 🙂

    • Hoping to do so:) It’s going to be a lot harder this time since more people are willing to travel to Brazil so the tickets will be difficult!
