Foucault Pendulum
This is an image of Foucault’s pendulum at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Foucault’s pendulum is basically a device that visually demonstrates that the earth rotates, the pendulum hanging from the ceiling of a standing structure is free to swing in any vertical plane. While the earth rotates the pendulum will appear to rotate relative to it yet in reality it is swinging in the same vertical plane.
