Mt. Hollywood

An image of Mt. Hollywood taken from the back of the observation deck of Griffith observatory. The famous Hollywood sign is that white strip on the left, you can see the communication tower behind it on top of the mountain.

Great photo – the sun on the mountains in the background and those clouds overhead are fantastic.

  6. Fantastic shot. I love the clouds. They’re giving a lot of drama to the photo. Great job Bashar πŸ™‚

  7. Wonderful shot, but it immediately screamed HDR at me. It’s a great technique, but personally it tends to jangle my senses pretty much when it’s this obvious. Take that with a grain of salt since I know so many folks are totally enchanted with it.

    • I love honest people… its your opinion, I respect it and I know what you mean :)… I intentionally pushed things on this image, just wanted to have fun with it!! Thanks for the honesty, I really appreciate it πŸ™‚

      • Good! I’m glad we’re still friends! πŸ˜‰

        • Of course… seriously I won’t get better if I can’t accept criticism. If you saw my very first HDRs you would puke… but its people feedback that made realize I wasn’t there.
I would love it if you let me know when you don’t like an image… you can leave a comment as simple as: “Not today” and I’ll get it and we’ll still be friends πŸ™‚

          • continuing on a serious note… there are people who seem to really like the extreme HDR, but as you noted my personal preference is not to overdo it. I think much of it is strictly individual taste, though I can’t help but wonder how much of it is the thing of playing with a new toy?

You show me a bit of the USA, of your neighbourhood & I find that fascinating! It is a bit like travelling from your desktop!

  12. A different view from what we are used to seeing. I like it! One can see the geologic nature of the hills and from where you took the pic is obviously a very popular place and great for a picnic (I see the blanket and basket there….). Liked.

  14. I’m hoping to go up there and to the L.A. Zoo on July 20.

    July 5, 2012 at 6:05 pm

    • I didn’t know LA had a zoo until a few days ago via some other blog!!

      July 6, 2012 at 7:13 am

      • It’s always been second to the San Diego Zoo because they are just 100 miles apart and the San Diego Zoo got started earlier. I haven’t been since 1973, though. Same with all of Griffith Park; last visit was 1973.
