Update: iPod Nano recall

Alright folks, I’m really late on this but I thought I’d give an update on the 1st generation iPod nano recall that happened about 2 months ago; after all its my most popular search result from google!! The program is clouded with mystery: once you send the device back they notify you to check its status on the web in a couple of weeks to determine the outcome of the recall. After a couple of weeks the status was that the issue has been identified and a replacement “of equal value” will be sent if an exact match is not available. After a while (since I went on vacation) I finally received a small brown box with a brand new 8GB iPod nano! It wasn’t packaged or with any instructions or accessories, the headsets above are mine from another shuffle that I own. That is still some amazing customer service, after 5 years they still reached out and replaced a 4GB 1st generation nano for a brand new one that is double the size! I’m a happy customer πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas…. wishing you and your loved ones the very best over the holiday season. Β In a week’s time, we will open the door to the new year and I hope you it will bring all of us happiness and joy.

Calling it the day

I took this image a few weeks back in Laguna beach. It was one of those magical November days in Souther California, the temperature during the day was mid 80s(F)/30s(C) which was just incredible. To no surprise, everyone headed to the beach for the day to soak up the sun. However as soon as the sun started to set, the temperature was dropping exponentially and what you see is the mad rush to head home. In the span of 20 minutes it went from a gorgeous day to “lets hurry up and call it the day”! The sunset after was just magical, unfortunately I didn’t have my tripod on me and I was really cold so I wasn’t going to enjoy my time πŸ™‚

Eyes of a predator

After living here (San Diego) for 3 years I finally made it to the San Diego zoo, and to no surprise it took a visitor from out of town to get me to go! Procrastination took over when I became a local, there is always next weekend, right? For this close up of the leopard’s face I was about 1.5 meters away from it; I had to get in between the plants (hence the blurred corners :)) These set of shots are of the Leopard that we saw at the zoo; the zoo does many good things for animal preservation but its very hard seeing these big cats in these small cages! Does anybody know if they move them to a larger area at night? or do they stay in that small cage the entire time they are at the zoo? (more…)

Airport Roller Coaster

I took this picture a year ago at Denver’s airport on my way to Toronto before heading out to Johannesburg for the world cup.

The way things used to be

Canon EOS 5D MkII, EF 16-35 f/2.8L @ 29mm, f/5.6, ISO 200

This is another one of those La Jolla jewels… not sure how old this house is but must be at least 40 years old. Its a lot bigger than shown here as the wide angle lens effect does its thing πŸ™‚ I went with 70s look with this HDR just to keep the theme as “old”, just trying something a little different. The original image is actually quite clean and I chose to add noise to it to help with the aging effect.

Technical:
– 3 RAW Images [-2,0,+2 EV] merged into Photomatix
– LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of adjustments in Lightroom!
