Our waste
I was walking around Mission Bay trying to find a good vantage point to take some sunset shots from; I noticed this pipe with two poles sticking above it from a distance which I thought was odd. When I got close to it the sign it said something along the lines of don’t touch the water or come in contact with it. It was a sewer pipe dumping our waste into the bay, I thought it would be interesting contrast with the beautiful sunset going on behind 🙂

I think think this is a beautiful and arresting photograph. There are the textures of the beach debris and the footprints, the bright setting sun contrasting with the clouds, those weird vertical shapes on the headland (are they very tall palm trees?) and to top it off, the sewage outlet right smack bang in the middle.

It doesn’t make sense to me that in this day and age they would be pumping dangerous waste into the bay. Is this old? Have you investigated this? I’m curious. Great photo though. I love how the palm trees in the background echo the two signs over the pipe.

There was something coming out of the pipe so I just assumed it was sewers, didn’t feel like touching it and finding out myself 🙂 I always hear from the locals not to swim in the bay, I think thats why

Interesting contrast, but it is terrible and oldfashioned to dump such waste in a bay.
